What is Interactive Metronome?
Interactive Metronome (IM) is a computer-based training and assessment system that uses precise rhythmic cues and real‑time feedback to improve the brain’s timing, attention, and motor coordination. It is typically used by therapists as a neurocognitive and neuromotor intervention for children and adults with a range of cognitive, learning, and neurological challenges.
IM presents a steady auditory beat (and sometimes visual cues), and the client performs movements (e.g., clapping, tapping, stepping) to match that beat as closely as possible in time.
The system measures the difference between the movement and the beat in milliseconds and gives immediate feedback, training more precise neurotiming and synchronization of brain networks.
